The Fast-track to iWitness
- In today's fast-paced business environment, many customers need to quickly and efficiently become experts in iWitness. As the co-developer of iWitness, DeChant Consulting Services (DCS) is best qualified to get your organization up and running with close-range photogrammetry using iWitness or iWitnessPRO.

DCS has a long successful history of offering its iWitness training workshops - which are typically provided at customer's facilities. The iWitness training workshops cover the software's user-functionality, including photogrammetric classroom theory, practical exercises from picture taking to exporting the iWitness 3D-model to CAD. In addition, the training workshop covers other close-range photogrammetric topics such as camera calibration, field use tips, use of digital and analog cameras, night photography for photogrammetry imaging, use of iWitness with other metrology systems i.e., total stations and 3D infrared lasers, working with advanced tools such as polylines and photo-texturing, project review (auditing) and much more.

With over 20 years in the field of close-range photogrammetry, DCS has a proven track record of implementing close-range photogrammetric systems in diverse fields including the aerospace industry; stair-lift and automotive industries and recognized as the leader in low-cost photogrammetry system implementation for state, county and local law enforcement agencies across America.

The DCS iWitness photogrammetry workshop is 3-days in length. The iWitness workshop instructs customers the theory and operation of the iWitness close-range photogrammetry system. Experts from DCS instruct the iWitness training workshop. If the iWitnessPRO software was purchased, the workshop is optionally extended to 4 or 5 days - depending on workshop size.

The minimum attendance fee for the iWitness workshop is six attendees. The workshop typically uses accident reconstruction projects as the focus of training exercises. Upon customer request, other fields can be tailored to meet the clients needs for the image-based measuring technology.

Following the iWitness workshop completion, attendees will have the necessary working knowledge for using iWitness with calibrated digital cameras and/or analog cameras, on a wide range of measurement and 3D modeling projects.

2) Day & Night Photography requirements

3) Introduction to the iWitness User Interface tools

4) Working with already acquired images (and understanding EXIF use in iWitness)

5) Manual and Automatic Centroid Marking digital images - used with iWitness' fully automatic camera orientation & bundle adjustment (triangulation) processing

6) Model integrity checking (Quality Assurance checks using the "Edit Review Mode" function)

7) Applying project scale, measuring, model rotation "3-2-1", and Z-axis target offsetting - used with combined total station control point data

8) Working with the 3D Points List and the 3D Graphics Viewer

9) The iWitness model exporting options in report and CAD formats

10) iWitness semi automatic and fully automatic Camera Calibration methods

11) The iWitness requirements for proper field work and imaging

12) Accomplishing field projects from ‘Photos to CAD diagram' using iWitness and The Crash Zone

13) iWitness' Project Network 1D, 2D, 3D 'Stitching' (linking multiple projects using the "Transformation to Control" dialog)

Training Prerequisite:
The only prerequisite for the iWitness Basic Training Workshop is, attendees must have a working knowlede of the MS Windows 2000, XP or Vista Operating Systems. Experience with CAD diagramming programs or the use of EDM total stations is also helpful, but is not a requirement for the DCS iWitness photogrammetry workshop.

Cost and class size requirements:
The minimum attendance fee is six paid training seats per workshop. Larger class size workshops for just iWitness (not iWitnessPRO) can be optionally scheduled for a whole week (5 days, 40 hours.) The cost is $695.00 for each attendee (training seat.) Training fees for a workshop of more than quantity 10 attendees qualify for a discount, if requested by the customer; contact DCS for more information. Our workshop will also include the use/overview of the Crash Zone's CAD Zone diagramming software for complete 3D diagramming of the iWitness image-based 3D model work.
